WNTE Presents: The Fall of 2019

(This website has a blog apparently! I can hardly wait to use it once and then never use it again.)

Greetings WNTE community - alumni, peers, faculty, and anyone who may have stumbled across our website!

I'm Carl Helrich, a sophomore at Mansfield University, and the general manager of WNTE for the coming 2019-20 school year. I am a Liberal Studies major, which means I have a lot of time on my hands, and I'm obsessed with music, which is how I spend the majority of my time.

I will be this year supervised by our advisor, Ryan Dalton, and WNTE's assistant GM, Maxim Granville, whose experience as GM I will be relying on to get the hang of things.

WNTE is in a great position going into this year. With such a strong foundation, we're hoping to move into new offices, host some events, and get live internet streaming up and running. (If anyone has any recommendations about that last goal, please reach out to us, there's a lot involved)

We're building connections with other organizations - namely the Flashlight (MU's newspaper), and we'll be reaching out to as many as we can this year. I hope to get some fraternities/sororities to host some weekly shows, maybe get some faculty on the honorary WNTE staff, and get some alumni back here to run some shows. Seriously, we'd love to get to know some past radio stars.

Also, the website @ https://wnte895.wixsite.com/ got a few changes - go check 'em out!

I've heard a few concerns from potential DJs, chiefly that they don't think they have the experience/capability to run a radio show. Nope.

Having your own show only requires some desire. There is little-to-no technical parts involved in doing so. WNTE provides all the info you could ever need to broadcast. Currently, none of our staff are tech/comm majors, or music majors. We're just cool people who like cool music, and want to welcome in other cool people. It takes like two hours out of our weeks to come to our weekly meeting (Wednesdays @ 8 pm @ the Fishbowl), and run our own unique show where we get to hang out with all of Mansfield for as long as we want.

Our staff will be doing our best to stay active on WNTE social medias (Instagram: wnte895_mu, Twitter: @WNTE895_MU, Facebook: our page, I dunno how to tag it), as well as expanding our ranks (see above). We will be openly welcoming any and all feedback, as well as suggestions for music we should be playing.

Here's to a great year, and great things coming out of it!
